On chain data: The proportion of Ethereum Whale holdings continues to increase, controlling over 43%

IntoTheBlock, a blockchain analysis company, pointed out on Monday that the proportion of holdings by the largest holders of Ethereum (ETH) has been continuously increasing since 2019, accumulating more ETH over time. This cumulative behavior will further accelerate in early 2023, coinciding with the timing of Shapella's upgrade.

The chart from IntoTheBlock shows that these whale addresses currently control over 43% of the circulating supply of Ethereum, approaching the 48% held by retail investors combined.

In terms of Bitcoin (BTC), Pedro M. Negron, a research analyst at IntoTheBlock, stated in a report released last week that wallet addresses holding 100 to 1000 BTC are not affected by market interference and have remained stable in recent market fluctuations, steadily increasing their holdings over the past few months.

The chart shows that these addresses now control 20.3% of the circulating supply of Bitcoin, equivalent to 4.01 million BTC, an increase of 5% compared to six months ago.

IntoTheBlock points out that this group consists of only 14000 addresses, accounting for only 0.03% of the total number of addresses with balances on the Bitcoin memory block chain. The company continued to write:

Predicting the peak of the bull market in the summer of 2025

IntoTheBlock also pointed out in the report that based on the past three rounds of Bitcoin bull bear cycles, the average time between Bitcoin halving events and subsequent market cycle peaks is about 480 days. If this assumption is followed in this cycle, the peak of Bitcoin price cycle may occur in the summer of 2025.

Cryptocurrency venture capital firm Pantera has also predicted the cyclical trend of Bitcoin, believing that the peak of Bitcoin's halving will occur in August 2025, when the price will reach $148000 (note: Pantera may have adjusted this analysis, with its latest predicted price showing $117482).
